Stages of Construction: Foundation

The foundation of the home is one of the most important structural features of the house and will support the entire structure for the life of the building. With Adair Homes, the foundation is the first step in the construction process and will be the first opportunity you have to see our professional and knowledgeable trade partners at work.

Within the foundation the concrete contractor will place the necessary re-bar for structural stability of the concrete, anchor bolts to fasten the stem wall to the bottom plate of the frame, and metal hold-downs to anchor the applicable framing components of the home to the foundation. These requirements are found on the house plans, per code and engineering determinations.

Within the stem wall, you will also find the foundation vents for the crawl space. The vents are necessary to provide proper ventilation and air-flow to the crawl space. The number and spacing of the vents is also found on the foundation plan and is determined by the size of the crawl space.

Building an Adair home was definitely the way to go for us. We were able to do much of the work ourselves which enabled us to save quite a bit of money. In the end we were able to carry our mortgage without Primary Mortgage Insurance (PMI) because we had equity from the very day we moved in!
